when john mccain announced his running mate, my gut reaction was that this "hockey mom" was bad news. however i realized that i could just be feeling that way because of my disgust for republicans. being the pragmatic person i can sometimes be, i decided that i was going to give this woman a chance. like any good voter, i decided that i would listen to what she had to say and make a decision based on that. . .
when i saw her speak @ the convention, i was not impressed. i was immediately bored. this woman, a potential future vp of the united states of america, managed to lose my interest within 5 minutes of starting her speech. for those of u that know me, u know that its not unusual for me to become bored within 5 minutes of starting anything, but it wasn't even my pre-disposition that caused me to lose focus so quickly, it was the way this woman from alaska (who btw talks like she is from minnesota) had hardly any communication skills. she stood on that stage and made jokes, like that puppet we have sitting in the white house now, instead of explaining her views and opinions on important issues. that to me is making a mockery of what should be an esteemed position. now i understand the argument that not everyone is a good speaker, but honestly, not everyone is running for the 2nd most powerful job position in this country. those that do, in my opinion, need to be better than the rest of us. they need to be smarter than me. they need to have more life experiences than me. because if they dont then they are not qualified.
furthermore, it really annoys me that john mccain would think that women are stupid enough that we would elect any woman. i am all for women to break the glass ceiling and i look forward to the day that we finally do, but im not so ignorant that i believe it doesnt matter if they are qualified or not. his choice to pick her is in fact kinda similar to affirmative action if u think about it.
anyways, the whole point of writing this blog was to post this video of an interview that charlie gibson had with senator palin last night on world news tonight. this woman dodged every major question. it makes me sick to my stomach that someone like her even has the possibility of getting elected, but then again, thats why i love the united states. please watch it.
