The Assignment

So my cousin Jess, who isn't really my cousin but rather is married to my cousin but i consider her my cousin, (Phew that was a longgggggg explanation lol) has an amazing blog Straight Talk Jess. A few days ago she was assigned some "homework" from a fellow blogger to answer some questions. Always one to invite other people to do something fun and interesting, Jess assigned me and a few others to answer some questions. So here it goes peeps! P.S. expect HW at the end!

1. What is your favorite/worst/most embarrassing (take your pick) memory from high school?
Ok this one is kinda hard because I honestly do not get embarrassed that easily. I can count the number of times I have been truly embarrassed on one hand. IDK if it is because I have no shame, because I just don't care, or because I take everything in stride- though my money would probably be on the first two :-)

I also don't really have any terrible memories from high school. High school was really fun for me. I had a great group of friends and was just so carefree and easy going back then. So, I guess I am going to alter this question and go with the funniest memory from high school.

My funniest memory was when I was taking Geometry 2 in summer school. I was taking it to get ahead in my studies, not because I am a ruh-tard. Anyways, the class was really small like maybe ten kids and we all were either already close or became close by the end of the session- mostly due to practical jokes we would play on each other during our breaks. One day me, W, and M went to the 7 11 to get a slurpee. This girl T, who was going to stay at school during the break, asked us to get her one. I am not sure why but for some reason why in the store one of us thought it would be a great funny idea to buy a box of lubricated condoms and put them in her slurpee. I swear we fit about three condoms in there and hid them the best we could. When we got back to school, we handed her the slurpee and watched with eyes as big as saucers as she took her first sip. She didn't notice anything. It took everything in us to not bust out laughing. T did not notice anything was wrong with the slurpee until she was nearly done with it. During the middle of our teacher's lesson, she started screaming that there were condoms in her slurpee. Thankfully she took it like a champ and wasn't too terribly mad at us. IDK, maybe you had to be there to think it was funny. lol

2. What is your favorite thing to do when you have "me time?"
When I have "Me" time I really like to just relax. Relax for me varies depending on the type of day I have had. Sometimes it entails catching up with a friend via phone or email. Or just laying in bed or curling up on the couch with a really good book . Other days it can be something as simple as going to Starbucks and grabbing a ice soy chai latte. At this point in my life, I really don't have that many responsibilities or commitments so I like to think that every day is "me" time. :-) And yes, I am enjoying it while it lasts because I know that my days of having no real responsibilities or pressures are numbered!

3. What gets you through a crazy, stressful time/day?
Hmmm. Besides prescription drugs ;-P ?!?! haha. There a few things that help me through a crazy and stressful time. First, would probably be anything that makes me laugh. This could be anything from watching a comedy such as Freeway, talking to a friend who makes me laugh, or listening to a comedian . I find that laughter really is the best medicine. It can turn a frown upside down or a scowl into a smile. Second would probably be just hanging out in my room listening to some of my favorite tunes or taking a relaxing bubble bath. Talking to my nieces or looking at pictures of my new nephew also help me out a lot.

4. What's your favorite indulgence?
Ok so many little things make me happy and put a smile on my face. During the fall/winter my favorite indulgence is a hot soy chai latte w/no water. It is absolutely delish and is just so rich and smooth. I love it so much! Unfortunately, it is not yet cold enough to get a hot one, but I really do look forward to when it is!

I also really like to splurge on make up, specifically lipsticks or lip glosses. My most recent make up splurge was a Tom Ford lipstick. I am not going to lie, it is a bit pricey and I didn't know whether it was foolish to buy it or not, but I just had to. And boy am I glad I did. I have never used a more amazing lipstick (yes, i did just call lipstick amazing) in my life! The color is beautiful and like the aforementioned soy chai latte it is also so rich
and smooth. The color stays on forever as well!

I also love to splurge on perfumes. My favorite maker of perfumes is Bond no. 9 New York. Earlier this year I bought High Line. It smells amazing! What I love about the Bond perfumes is that they stay on you all day with just one or two sprays in the morning; so while it is expensive compared to most perfumes, it is worth it and will last you a LONG time.

how you doin

i normally cannot stand Wendy Williams ! she looks like a tran and the handful of times i have seen her show i get super annoyed because her interviewing style sucks. but, i am a firm believer that everyone has at least one redeeming quality and today i found wendy's.

every month Glamour magazine has a celeb write their "Do and Don'ts" column. this month it was miss wendy and i could not agree more with EVERYTHING she had to say. Check it out below:

My Dos and Dont's by Wendy Williams

2. Ono Sushi This restaurant serves probably the best sushi in San Diego! For the quality of fish you get, the prices are amazing!

3. Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier I have been expanding my horizons in the world of beer and trying something new every chance I get. This beer is fantastic! It has the slightest hint of blackberry and it really gives the beer a crisp flavor! Try it next time you are out!

a few things i hate

now that the holidays are over, we can all stop pretending to love each other, wipe those grins off our faces, and go back to being the cynical assholes we are the other 364 days out of the year. ;-) ...to keep in the spirit of this i decided i wanted to make a list of a few things i hate!

1. NAME DROPPERS. why do certain people feel the need to put a name brand in front of every other word or talk about people that i dont know and never want to know but that they think will impress me in some way by letting me know they know them. that shit does not impress me. it never will. please stop.

2. EMO ANYTHING. look, im down with flannel. in fact this season i bought quite a few flannel shirts. but i cannot stand people who are "emo" or "hipster" just because they think it is the "cool" thing to do. those who dress/act like that because thats really who they are, i have respect for, but those who are doing it as a front make me want to vomit.

3. COLD WEATHER. years ago when i would play "would you rather" and the question "would you rather have hot or cold weather" came up, i would always choose cold weather. but this year i realized that i cannot stand cold weather. i hate it. i cant wait until cali gets warm again.

4. ASSHOLES. seems like a contradiction that i dislike assholes since according to M.M. I am THE asshole. but whatever, maybe we all dislike what we are. anyways, i am not just talking about any asshole. im talking about the assholes who treat girls like shit. its so enjoyable to be around someone who is nice and treats girls as they should be treated.

5. PACKING. enough said.

6. PEOPLE WHO DONT TAKE PRIDE AND DO NOT TRY TO WORK HARD IN THEIR JOB/CAREER. listen, i really dont care what anyone does for a job/career. you could have a job cleaning the shit off of old people's asses all night and it wouldnt make me view you any differently, but what will is, those workers who do not want to be the best they can be @ their job. mediocrity infuriates me. take some pride in your job, put a smile on ur face. if u dont like ur job, quit and do something else. yes, it really is that easy.

7. HANGOVERS. ive said it before and ill say it again. how the hell can we send people to outerspace, but not have a cure for hangovers? thats straight up artarded.

8. DISRESPECTFULNESS. another thing i cannot stand is when someone is a guest in my home and they do not respect it. while i dont have a job and have not bought anything in my house with my own money, i do work hard for what i have and to have someone disrespect my things is gnarly. it even pisses me off when people do that to other people's homes. it shows a lack of respect for the person.

9. OTHER PEOPLE'S HAIR. other peoples hair makes my skin crawl. especially when it touches my body. but even the sight of it has the potential to make me gag.

SOMETHING I DO LOVE AND AM OBSESSED WITH RIGHT NOW: salmon. raw or cooked. i just cant seem to get enough. yum!

my favorite list

oprah's favorite show is coming up soon and it inspired me to share with my small group of readers a few of my favorite things at the moment.

1. www.TuckerMax.com
I barely got introduced to this website this week, but already I am completely addicted! Tucker Max is a Duke Law graduate who instead of becoming a lawyer decided to create a website all about himself. Basically, Tucker shares stories about his life. I must warn you that while extremely funny and amusing, the stories can at times be extremely vulgar. But give it a chance.

2. www.goop.com
Goop.com is the brainchild of Gwyneth Paltrow. It started out as weekly newsletter, but I believe they know have archives on the actual site. The categories and topics of the newsletter range from things to do in different cities, things to make in the kitchen, and what to wear. Really cool stuff. I plan on implementing some of the Thanksgiving recipes this year.

3. Midlake
Midlake is a band from the small, shitkicker wearing town of Denton, Texas. I haven't quite figured out who to compare them to, which is one of the reasons I like them so much. They have a cool ep on itunes that is only 2 bucks and well worth it.

4. Starlite Mule
The starlite mule is a delicious drink at one of my favorite restaurants, Starlite. The drink is actually called a Moscow Mule. I have yet to make these at home because I want to buy copper mugs so I can drink it properly, but the recipe looks easy enough. The ingredients needed are: 1 1/2 ounces vodka, wedge of lime, and cold ginger beer. Directions are: Pour the vodka into a copper mug or an iced glass. Squeeze the lime over the vodka, and drop the wedge into the mug. Fill the glass with the ginger beer.

5. Sunflower Seeds
Maybe its because they remind me of simpler times when I would be a the sports plex watching my brother's baseball team, but whatever the case, they are damn good!

6. True Blood
One of the best shows on tv right now. Vampires, seduction, shape shifters, and Louisiana. If you don't have HBO, get it.

7. And the Hippos Boiled in Their Tanks
This is a book written by both Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs. Even without the note at the beginning telling you which author wrote which parts, you are able to tell. This book is so good that some nights I lay in bed reading instead of working on my International Trade in Developing Countries article.

I wanted to make this a top ten list, but I really can't think of anything else that is a favorite right now and I don't just want to put things up here for the sake of meeting a quota. . . So enjoy these simple pleasures of mine.
